About

I am a registered social worker and counsellor providing online clinical counselling to adult individuals. My practice is located on Quadra Island, British Columbia. While supporting my community, I also serve clients in Campbell River, across Vancouver Island, and throughout BC. I have worked with vulnerable populations since 2002. As a social worker, I started with assisting immigrants and those experiencing trauma, poverty, and addictions. I subsequently worked with women and children fleeing violence and spent many years supporting and counselling families and children who experienced trauma, violence, mental health disorders, addictions, and abuse.

My intention with my clinical work is to support clients in addressing their individual issues and needs, primarily within the social context of inequality and exclusion which present as external stressors and significant obstacles for them to realise their potential. I am also passionate in supporting clients to ultimately thrive within their perhaps challenging family dynamic. I facilitate problem solving processes while encouraging clients to explore their inner self and to challenge their internalisation, redefine their value, and to re-evaluate their relationship with self and others.

I grew up in Taiwan and came to Canada when I was a young adult. I too have gone through life transitions in which I encountered opportunities, joys, struggles, and grief. My experience of leaving my home and moving onto a new stage of life contributes extensively to my practice.
